Metal Gear Solid 4

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the best-selling video game on the Playstation 3 (recently achieving 'Platinum' status), created by Konami. You play the role of 'Old Snake' - a long-time war hero, who is rapidly aging due to the Fox Die that he was given in MGS1. So what is Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition? It is essentially the same video game as MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, but with a few extra additions.

It was released at the same time as the original game, and as a collector's item, for the hardcore fan. While costing more than the normal package, you are justified by the added bonuses. First of all, you receive a box full of artwork about the game, beautifully created by Yoji Shinkawa. Next, you'll get a copy of the game's soundtrack (something that is actually fairly rare), as well as two 'making of' documentaries on Blu-ray disc. Lastly, you'll receive a 6-inch tall Old Snake Figurine in his 'Olive Drab' camouflage. Limited editions are rarely released, so when they are there is always a lot of hype surrounding them. In actual fact, nearly every limited edition game ever released has turned out to be a blockbuster/huge seller.

The Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition box-set was originally available at Game.com, Electronics Boutique and GameStop. Now it is available in certain PS3 bundles, and can be bought alongside an 80GB or a 40GB PlayStation 3 bundle. There is an even more limited edition PlayStation 3 that can be bought in 'Gunmetal Grey', instead of black, when purchased alongside Metal Gear Solid 4 Limited Edition. At the current time, this bundle is sold out everywhere, although Sony have announced on their website that more may be in production, so keep your fingers crossed!
